Rohan is located in Central Brittany, the towns of Josselin and Pontivy with their magnificent chateaus are within a 20 minute drive and both 24 km direct along the canal tow path which is accessible all year round.
Fishing – the canal has many fishing stations and a licence for day , weekly or season fishing can be abtained easily from the Mairie office and the village newsagent in Rohan.
The abbey Timadeuc is 2 km which can be accessed by car or a lovely walk or cycle along the canal.
The local area
Josselin is a stunning medieval town with pavement cafes and restaurants, located on the canal also offers boat and cycle hire in the tourist season. Saturday morning street market.
Pontivy also located on the canal has a wonderful tourist office situated on the canal in a wide beamed barge. Great independent shops, cafe and restaurants, a larger shopping complex is just a short distance from the centre. There is a swimming pool with fun slides, lazy river and Jacuzzis. A bowling hall can be found on the outskirts. Pontivy is a great destination for a family day out with lots of things to do. Monday morning market.
Loudeac is a 20 minute drive offering shopping on a new complex. Aquarev park is a 40 acre free space of lakes, cafe, walking and children’s play area, this is a great place to meet for a picnic, play and walk. Good family destination.
Kingoland Amusement Park is a 30 minute drive
The north coast beaches are 1 hour drive with a range of activities, stunning coast line for walking.
The south coast beaches and the Golfe de Morbihan are 50 minutes drive.
Brittany’s top tourist attraction – the valley of the Saints is 1hour 20minutes drive. A fantastic free day out showcasing giant granite carved statues.

Nantes- Brest canal
Just 50m to the Nantes- Brest Canal which links the two seaports of Nantes and Brest through inland Brittany, the total length of the canal is 385km with 238 locks, it is fabulous to cycle or walk with many interesting places to stop and explore along the way, the canal is still used for pleasure boating. There is a plethora of wildlife along the canal from Kingfishers to Herons. Ragondin can often be spotted swimming.
The atlantic cycling route – connection Europe on bike.
The Brittany beginning is in Roscoff and the route brings you past Central Brittany B and B one stop after the town of Pontivy.
