2 night Short Break - Cycling Option
Day 0ne
- Arrive Central Brittany B and B early Check – in at 2pm, Afternoon tea at 2.30pm
- Prepare and cycle to Josselin 24 km along the canal a ride of 1hr 15 minutes – 1hr 45minutes.
- Spend time enjoying the town of Josselin. Visit the chateau and toy museum. Climb the church tower for the panoramic view of Josselin and into the Chateau gardens. Visit the hidden garden and the local shops.
- Cycle back to Central Brittany B and B, rest & relax.
- Evening dinner served at 8pm.
- 3 courses including a pichet of wine. Additional wine can be purchased if required.
Day Two
- Breakfast
- Prepare to cycle to Pontivy. 24km along the Nantes et Brest canal. One of the most interesting parts of the Canal, there are many locks between Rohan and Pontivy and the staircase of Locks at St Gerand is great to see.
- Arriving in Pontivy you can visit the Chateau, walk the cobble street with interesting shops, visit the tourism boat and the ancient mariners church.
Pontivy is where the River Blavet meets the Nantes et Brest Canal and the cycle path continues here if you wish to cycle further. - Lunch in Pontivy – organised by yourselves
- Return to Central Brittany B and B for rest & relaxation, maybe in the garden (weather Permitting)
Evening dinner at 8pm

Breakfast
It’s time to depart at 10am Enjoy exploring the local area, maybe take a walk along the Rohan village historical trail, you will find the buildings marked on the map with photos from the bygone era in this bustling village port.
You can also visit Timaduec Abbey is just a 2.5km walk away along the canal, the Abbey is a working farm and the producer of walnut infused and wrapped cheese and also pates, a jelly sweet filled with natural fruits.
2 night Short Break - Walking Option
Walking in Central Brittany is both relaxing and challenging; there are many different routes that can be accessed from Central Brittany B and B either on foot, or by taking a short drive to the beginning of a walking route.
We have packs of maps with 32 different walks at a mixture of lengths and levels of ability. Here is a sample of some of the walks close by. Bring your camera and binoculars to capture the scenes and the many birds which have Brittany as their home.
Walk 6 – Circuit de l’abbaye de Timadeuc a 4.5km route taking in the Abbey which has a free visitor centre. The abbey is a working monastery. The farm at the abbey produces a famous cheese which is wrapped in a walnut case giving a unique delicious flavour. Also produced here is Pate, a jellied sweet made with natural fruits.
Walk 31 – A la découverte de Roc’han is 3.2km taking in 10 significant places in our village of Rohan. Many of the points of interest have wonderful photos of the bygone era of this important village set on the Nantes et Brest Canal.
Both of these walks can be accessed from our door.
Take in some hidden sites and treasures further afield by following one of the other walking routes.
Walk 4 – Circuit de la Fountaine Blanche is 5km and passes by the breathtaking church of Saint –Thuriau with its exquisite painted ceilings.
Walk 8 – 14km circuit du canal et de la rigole d’Hilvern takes you through the village of Saint – Gonnery and then along on to the Nantes et Brest canal crossing at several Ecluse ( locks ) this pretty walk is a testament to the Brittany country and canal side life.
Collect a picnic lunch 10.00€ from us before leaving and return to a wonderful 3 course evening meal with a pichet of wine.

- Arrive Central Brittany B and B early Check – in at 2pm, Afternoon tea at 2.30pm
- Prepare and complete Walk 6 – Circuit de l’abbaye de Timadeuc a 4.5km.
- Spend time enjoying the visitor centre and the shop with speciality local produce.
- Return to Central Brittany B and B, rest & relax.
- Evening dinner served at 8pm.
3 courses including a pichet of wine. Additional wine can be purchased if required.
Day Two
- Breakfast
- Collect a picnic lunch 10.00€ if you wish – pre order the evening before.
- Depart for the day to your chosen walking route from the selection of 32 or maybe even take in two.
We are situated equal distance between the Chateau towns of Pontivy and Josselin, both 16km away by car and also have lovely walks.

2 night Short Break - Road Cycling
Brittany is one of the Hot Spots for road cycling in France. In 2021 the Tour De France saw the Grande Depart in Brest and the first 4 stages of the race. Two of these stages are within a 30minute drive of us here at Central Brittany B and B.
Mur-de-Bretagne is the famous end stage and Pontivy saw the end stage on day 3 too.
The Jean Robic cycle route named after the famous Tour de France winner begins at the Plan d’eau in Radenac just a few miles away and cover a 21.9km stretch, close to here is also the town of Josselin which was part of the 2nd day stage of the Tour de France at Pleugriffet.
We have secure parking for your bikes and a place for washing and small repairs to bikes should the need arise.
We are located between the chateau towns of Josselin and Pontivy both of which have great roads for cycling.
